Karen Waples has taught since 1989, and is now at Holy Family High School in Colorado. She teaches AP® U.S. Government and Politics and AP® Comparative Government, and she also conducts AP® workshops and institutes throughout the country. Karen was a member of the Curriculum Redesign Committee for the AP® U.S. Government and Politics course. Before becoming a teacher Karen was a trial attorney from 1985–1989. She received the Colorado Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education in 1997 and was recognized as a Cherry Creek High School teacher of the year in 2002.

In addition to his teaching duties, Benwari has served as a reader, table leader, and question leader at the AP® U.S. Government and Politics reading for 14 years. He also served on the AP® U.S. Government and Politics test development committee for six years, including two as the co-chair of the committee.
